Call for Artists: Inspired by Ellsworth, A Summer Exhibition
The Makerspace at 16 State Street invites artists to submit work for Inspired by Ellsworth, a juried summer exhibition celebrating the character, creativity, and sense of place that define Ellsworth, Maine.
This exhibition asks artists to reflect, interpret, or reimagine the many pieces that make Ellsworth what it is: its landscapes, people, architecture, businesses, waterfront, parks, creative culture, and downtown energy. Work may be literal, abstract, personal, historical, playful, or deeply rooted in place. However artists choose to respond, the show is meant to capture the feeling of Ellsworth through many creative perspectives.
Inspired by Ellsworth is part of the ongoing effort to activate downtown through the arts and highlight Ellsworth as a vibrant and evolving creative hub. The Makerspace at 16 State Street, a program of Heart of Ellsworth, is being shaped as a place where people can make, show, sell, learn, and gather. This exhibition supports that vision by creating space for local and regional artists to share work that connects directly to the community around them.
The exhibition will be on view at the Makerspace at 16 State Street from June 25 through July 29, with an opening event on June 25 from 5 to 7 PM. Artists are invited to submit work for consideration by May 31.
Whether your work is inspired by a familiar street corner, the Union River, a downtown storefront, a favorite view, a memory, a person, or the feeling of this place, we welcome you to apply.
